The Biba Gold Two Tone Limited Edition Sequin Trousers

Roxy Vintage Style sequin Biba trousers

Trousers by Biba at House of Fraser, vest from Primark, shoes from BHS, vintage hoop earrings

From time to time my narcissism pays off and I get sent lovely clothes to review. It’s a great opportunity to try something different so here I am wearing a pair of sequinned trousers! They’re from revitalised vintage label, Biba, and they’re available now at House of Fraser.

I’m used to my legs being seamed not spangly, but the black with gold undertones keeps these as flattering as tight, reflective trousers can be. The tapered, ankle-length combined with my adorably short, stumpy legs make heels essential to avoid looking like a walking glitterball. Although actually, that sounds kind of awesome.

These attention-grabbing trews are a huge change from of my usual 1950s-inspired look, but I had a lot of fun wearing them. Disco pants all the way – they’re sassy, a little bit seventies and perfect for a night out dancing.

Vintage Essentials No.9: A Lace Camisole

When your wardrobe is bursting at the hinges with statement pieces, sometimes you need the perfect basic to pull a look together.

My love of cardigans and my massive, button-defying breasts mean that vests are an essential building block in my wardrobe, but a cotton top can undermine the glamour of an otherwise high voltage outfit.

That’s why I was so delighted with this camisole from Biba. It’s simple enough to wear with attention-grabbing items like this fabulous 1950s vintage cardigan and this hotrod-hot-pink pencil skirt, but the lace detail in the fabric makes it special in its own right. Stocking up on pretty-go-with-anything camis like this one makes getting dressed a far less traumatic experience.

Old Hollywood Glamour In Biba

Roxy Vintage Style Biba Glamour Dress

Gown from Biba at House of Fraser, peeptoe satin shoes from Lotus at House of Fraser, faux fur stole from Collectif, headdress from eBay, earrings from River Island, vintage handbag

When House of Fraser generously invited me to pick a dress to review I was instinctively drawn to the full length Oscars gown. I’m no fool.

It’s a fabulous choice for curvy girls who don’t feel comfortable in figure-hugging outfits. The expertly draped fabric and Grecian wrapover style make it very flattering. It clings in all the right places and tactfully skims over the wrong ones, like a perfectly fitting glitzy toga. I love long dresses as much as I hate my legs, which is a lot. The slit keeps it sexy and aids the walking process.

My new frock makes me feel sexy and statuesque. My beautiful friend Lela observed that it makes me look a bit like the Statue of Liberty. This is great news. Look at all the attention that stone fox gets.

Metallic gowns like this one were very popular with the movie stars of yesteryear because they command attention by making you look shiny and special. Here are Ava, Frances and Rita getting their goddess on.

I wore my goddess gown to The Candlelight Club: A Night In Casablanca, a fabulous pop-up 1920s speakeasy cocktail party. I love vintage events. You never have to worry about being overdressed because everyone always makes such an effort. Cheers to that.

While I’m in the Oscar dress I would like to give a special thank you to my new satin peeptoe shoes because they made me very happy and let me Charleston with minimal joint pain. Ladies, I couldn’t have done it without you.
